BAYLI: Pop and R&B Artist from New York

From The Skins to Solo Career

BAYLI started her musical career as the lead vocalist of The Skins, a rock band that she formed with her siblings and friends when she was a teenager. The band was signed by Rick Rubin and released an EP called Still Sleep. They also toured with DNCE and were featured by Rolling Stone.

However, BAYLI wanted to pursue a solo career and explore her own sound and style. She released her first solo single, “MYOB: Or Whatever” in 2018, which was co-written with Justin Tranter. BAYLI said that the EP was a natural concept for her, as all the songs had a connection to her hometown.

BAYLI also said that she wanted to share stories from a new perspective: “As a Black woman, as a queer person, as a person at the intersection of all these things, I would love to be there to tell new stories. That’s what stories from new york is.”

TELLY BAG

In 2022, BAYLI gained more recognition for her single “TELLY BAG”, an ode to her love of the Telfar bag, a popular fashion accessory among the queer community. The song was praised for its “effortless breeziness” and “laidback vibes” by The Fader and Paper, and was described as a “gay anthem” by BroadwayWorld. The song was also included in her second EP, Stories 2, which was released in October 2022.
